The Witcher is an amazing book series by Polish author, Andrzej Sapkowski. If you have not read them, I highly recommend it. It is also a tv series, starring Henry Cavill (if you would like us to review it, let me know), and a gaming series, which we will be focusing on today.

Witcher 1 is an older game, being made in 2007. The story begins with Geralt, a witcher from the school of the wolf, waking up at the school of the wolf and Kaer Morhen, having lost his memory. He is immediately thrown into war but with his friends, Eskal and Lambert, his father figure, Vesemir and his love interest, Triss Merigold as they seek to restore his memory. The story is very good as one can expect from CD Projekt Red. However, the gameplay is clunky which makes it damn near impossible to play. What makes it worse is that you can pick up its sequels and still immediately catch up to what you missed.

The second Witcher game, Witcher: Assassin of Kings, came out in 2011. The player steps back into the muddy boots of Geralt. Geralt has been arrested under suspicion of assassinating Foltest, king of Temeria. He sets out to prove his innocence and find the assassin. The story is once again really good and we shouldn't expect anything less. The gameplay however, while difficult, is still very much playable but does become difficult every now and again.

The third Witcher game, The Wild Hunt, truly is the peak of the Witcher series. The Wild Hunt was released in 2015. Geralt has finally recovered his memory and is looking for his long-lost love, Yennefer and his adopted daughter, Ciri. He discovers Ciri is being hunted by a group called the Wild Hunt for nefarious means. Together with Yennefer and a cast of colourful characters, Geralt sets out to stop them. The story is incredible, with hours upon hours of gameplay accessible to the player, if you make the right choices. The gameplay is a lot better than the previous two and makes for a very enjoyable game. Other than a few bugs here and there, there really is very little wrong with this game. Even if you have not played the previous two, you need to pick up this one!
Overall Rating: 9/10
The Witcher is a magnificent series, the characters are relatable, the overarching story is incredible and the fact your story changes according to your decisions makes for an immersive game.
