Now I am a big Tim Roth fan. I think he is one of the more underrated actors alongside actors like Karl Urban and Lucy Lawless. So already going into the series I knew I was going to enjoy myself, I just did not know how much.
Tim Roth portrays an incredibly smart man named Dr. Lightman. Using psychology they help local and federal law enforcement to solve some of the toughest crimes by reading people's emotions.
So first off the story is good. I won't go so far as to say great as there is no big bad. I am a staunch believer that when you tell a story you need an antagonist. This can be a normal person or can be the protagonist's mindset. Not only does this add to the story, but it can also be used to create a better protagonist and their mindset.
However, something that the show has over other crime series is that law enforcement don't just go in kill people and leave.
The character work is alright. Like I said the lack of an antagonist is evident as there is much of a character arc. The main character arcs are the interns. One of whom goes from annoying to slightly less annoying and the other who has to come to terms with her past.
The camerawork and the music are the strongest points. The camerawork helps to engage the audience in the story and the music helps to keep one emotionally invested.
This was an incredible series and I am upset to find out it was canceled after season 3. If someone wants to pick up the series and make more I am completely behind this idea.
